Project #14: Sgt. Ron Albert

Building Dreams for Marines completed its 14th project at the Epsom home of Sgt. Ron Albert.

Joining the Marines in 1962 at the age of 17, Sgt. Albert said he ‘entered the Marines a boy and quickly became a man.’

Today, Sgt. Albert has mobility challenges especially in his own home. BDFM worked with E5 Builders to get Sgt. Albert handicap modifications to his home that have made a world of a difference for him.

The main goal of this project was to enlarge the entryway door frame and make it handicap accessible for Sgt. Albert’s wheelchair as well as install a handicap accessible shower.

Jake LaRoche, Member Manager of E5 Builders and a Marine Veteran himself assembled his team for the one-day project. Some challenges with the existing flooring in the bathroom had Jake and his team rebuilding the subfloor – but that didn’t stop the team from finishing in one-day. Thank you E5 for your outstanding service.

A week later E5 returned to Sgt. Albert’s home and installed a front door screen door which allows Sgt. Albert and wife Dottie to enjoy the natural sunlight. BDFM also presented Sgt. Albert with a ‘Quilt of Valor’ – handmade by Cindy Goodwin of All American Quilt Co.
