Project #5: Gunnery Sergeant Bernie Ruchin
Spring 2014, hammers were swinging on our fifth home renovation project in Bedford, NH, led by Michael Browning and the great folks at Cobb Hill Construction. This time, we’re rolled up our sleeves for our own BDFM Board Vice President, Gunnery Sgt. Bernie Ruchin. Bathroom renovations and a new basement stair rail made navigation much easier for the Gunnery Sgt. who sustained injuries on the battlefields of WWII and The Korean War. This project has caught the attention of The Washington Times and other local press after being featured recently on WMUR-TV. Thank you to Cobb Hill Construction and to all our wonderful volunteers who made this project a reality!
On Friday, May 15 Building Dreams for Marines celebrated and thanked Cobb Hill Construction and members of Bravo Company 1st Bn, 25th Marines for their hard work and dedication in completing and restoring accessibility into the home of Bedford resident Gunnery Sgt. Bernie Ruchin, Retired USMC. More than 50 people attended the celebration including local and state dignitaries: U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, Col. Gary Lambert, USMC Ret, Members of the Bedford Police & Fire Department(s),Building Dreams for Marines Board Members, Members of B Co 1st Bn, 25th Marines.
Attendees dodged a few raindrops, but the weather could not dampen our spirits. Many thanks go out to Axel’s Food and Ice Cream of Merrimack, NH for their generous donation of lobster rolls, wraps and ice cream.
