Project #4: Staff Sergeant Dan Strong
This project involves a bathroom renovation for Staff Sergeant Dan Strong, USMC (Ret). Dan was medically retired from the Marine Corps in 2009, due to wounds he received on his third combat tour in Iraq in 2008. These wounds limit his mobility and require daily assistance from his wife.
One of Dan’s friends, Andrew Johnson, USMC (Ret), introduced Dan to Building Dreams for Marines, and his application for the bathroom renovation was accepted. Dan’s project is similar to Andrew’s (Project #3 completed earlier), and will help him immensely. In addition to making his bathroom more accessible, renovations will also improve laundry facilities.
About Dan:
Dan is currently employed as a Marine Corps Instructor for the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps based at Salem High School in Salem, MA. He loves mentoring and providing a positive male role model for the youth of America. “It’s the best job, besides being a father, that I can think of.”
Dan loves to spend quality time with his family and friends, and is looking forward to the new quality of life that this project will bring to him and his family. We can’t think of a more deserving recipient!
