Building Dreams for Marines 3rd project was completed during the Summer of 2013 to benefit Marine Corporal, Andrew Johnson who was wounded in Afghanistan in 2008. Modifications were made to Cpl. Johnson’s home, making it easier for him to live independently, more comfortably with his wife and 3 young children. Media coverage of the event resulted in an outpouring of support and an anonymous donation of a chair lift. Cpl. Johnson is now a member of the Building Dreams for Marines Board.

The June 2013 ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by many of the volunteers and Marines, as well as by U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, Mayor Donnalee Lozeau and Gary Lambert, a Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve and former state Senator. “The Marines are proud people who never ask for help,” Lambert said. “We offered you help, and you took it, and we thank you for that.”

Speaking at the completion of the Nashua project, Ayotte honored the efforts of all the volunteers. ‘This is America at its best,” Ayotte said of the project. “Some Americans … know it’s not just a duty we have as a government to take care of our veterans. … You are upholding not only the best values of our country, but the best values of the U.S. Marine Corps.”
